The First Tee of Baltimore was conceptualized in 2002 by a group of Baltimore business leaders who understood the need for after school and summer educational programs for the City’s youth. Being golfers themselves and having learned about the good work done by The First Tee on a national basis, the plan was put in motion to establish a Chapter in Baltimore.
On June 26, 2006 the dream of having a Chapter in Baltimore became reality as The First Tee of Baltimore officially opened.
Today, The First Tee of Baltimore operates from both Clifton Park Golf Course and Forest Park Golf Course. Clifton Park and Forest Park are 18 hole courses located in Baltimore City. Both courses, which are run by the Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation, provide a low-cost public course option for city golfers. The First Tee of Baltimore’s recently constructed short game Learning Center is a dynamic new addition to the Clifton Park property. The Learning Center is home to the majority of educational and instructional programming. In addition to the golf course and Learning Center, The First Tee of Baltimore utilizes indoor classroom space, which is available in the historic Clifton Mansion that lies adjacent to the Learning Center.
All First Tee of Baltimore classes are free of charge for students between the ages of 6 and 16. Members of the program may play the Clifton Park course for a reduced $5 rate.
